Alternative painting methods . . .

Hey, I hope you're all over the shock of Monday and not missing the weekend too much!

Recently my hands have been very painful and it got me thinking - What would I do without them? What if I could no longer paint? Would I keep going? Of course I would! I would just paint with my feet!

Check out my feet painting action here!

As you can tell - it was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed it - I'd love to create four paintings, one with each limb - No, make that 5! One with my mouth too! Maybe I could auction them off for charity, to raise awareness of artists who paint with anything but their hands.

In other news - I've finished the first picture in a while - I've been working on my portraits recently . . .
Please excuse the hot chocolate mug and messy floor - they come as part of the arty package! So it's in my style, but a very different subject matter - I do like painting my ladies, but I find skin tones particularly tricky. Practice makes perfect! I do find using less water and letting the paint 'scrub' on blends the colour better than adding water because the water creates a 'hard' edge to the section of colour just painted.

The background story to this is a series of inspirational women - I want to paint women from around the world and the struggles they face, how they over come them and the lives they lead. This lady is waiting for rain to shower her crops, you can see the blue of the rain clouds dripping and the red and orange stalks, flowing into luscious green for the plants in the background. The red represents the love for her family keeping her going and wanting to provide for them- something instinctive in all of us.

Approx 60 x 60 cm and Acrylic.

I hope you enjoyed this first proper post - if you did pop back every Monday for new posts!

Setting up the easel . . .

Hello everyone!

Here is where you will find me making rough sketches, cleaning my paintbrushes and chatting away about what inspires me and why I doodle what I do! This is where you'll find the secrets behind the paintings and see the process they go through before they're signed and hung. So please stick around for new posts every Monday -  photo's, video's, tutorials, tips and the odd funny sketch ;)
